Best Law Firms® rankings are assessed through analyzing feedback provided by clients and professional references, information supplied by the firm, industry leader interviews, and lawyer evaluations collected through the Best Lawyers research process. For the 2027 edition, more than 110,000 client references were submitted as part of the Best Law Firms research process.
This data is then combined into an overall Best Law Firms® score for each firm. The ranking system is tier based, rather than sequential, because there are often small differences that separate each firm in their overall score. National rankings are based on regional awards, the number of offices in each firm, and the level of activity in each jurisdiction. Regional rankings are defined by assessing the population of eligible law firms geographically to guarantee enough comparative data to produce accurate results.
